The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Reaction

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Required Changes

Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
